Large-size
multisegment LED displays
Large-size
multisegment LED displays (symbol height 266 mm) are designed for
presentation of digital and limited alphanumeric information in various
indoor and outdoor measuring and information display systems (for
example, clocks, thermo-, baro- and hygrometers, information panels at
stadiums, fuel price panels at tank stations, etc). Distinguishing
feature of the displays is the improved graphical representation of
symbols in comparison to the traditional seven-segment displays. There
are also advantages over matrix displays: the slightly slanted (5%)
symbols and the possibility to control the display in static mode. These
features improve readability, reliability and esthetics of the display.
The displays are based on super-bright energy-efficient LEDs with light
output angle up to 120 degrees, insuring high contrast even under direct
sunlight. The presented displays are all-in-one ready-to-use devices,
having built-in controller and are capable of displaying digital and
alphanumeric information (À, Á, Â, Ã, Å, Ç, Ê, Ë, Í, Î, Ï, Ð,
Ñ, Ó, Õ, ×, Ý, D, I, J, L, F, U, R, S, T, b, d, e, h, +, :,.-). The
displays are controlled by a personal computer or another controller via
RS-485 interface. The displays can be assembled in groups up to 32
devices in each for creation of measuring/displays systems that can be
controlled over a double line from a distance of up to 1 km. Each
display unit has a socket for connection of one additional display
element (for example, decimal point, degree sign, etc) that is fully
controlled within the common display control protocol.
The
built-in controller implements the following functions:
-
Reception,
decoding and display of up to 52 characters in ASCII.
-
Control
of the brightness (256 gradations).
-
Remote
testing.
-
Recognition
of individual (address) and group (for all) commands and data
-
Storage
of the received commands and data in nonvolatile memory. This
guarantees the preservation of the information transmitted to the
display in case of the power loss.
The
displays with red and yellow color of illumination are readily
available. At a customer request the green-, blue-, and white-colored
displays can be manufactured.
