LED Backlits for
LCDs

The photo of several LED
backlits.
LED backlit is a device
for use together
with LCDs under low ambient lighting condition. It allows to improve the
ergonomic characteristics of the LCDs, control panel design, etc.
The LED backlit consists of a thin panel with a surface,
uniformly illuminated by highly efficient super-bright LEDs. The
uniformity is achieved because of the redistribution of the light in
special lightguide. In design of the backlits we utilize film materials
having microstructured surfaces and possessing advanced lightguiding and
diffusing properties.
Normally the colour of the LED backlit is
green, red or yellow. However, at a customer request the blue-, white-
and multi-coloured backlits can be manufactured. The brightness value of
the backlit illumination is in range of 20-400cd/square meter with power
requirements as low as 0,2W. The brightness depends on the design of the
backlit, the number and type of the LEDs used and the type of the power
supply.
As a rule the illuminated field of the
backlit has rectangular form. The LEDs are placed at one or two opposite
sides. Electrical interconnection of the LED leads can be done at a
customer request.
Power supply mode: DC (0,5...30mA per
LED) or impulse. Supply voltage of a single LED is 1,8...3,3V depending
on the type of the LED.
